You Don't Have to Look Alike to Be Family

A couple of weeks ago, my sister and her family came to visit us. My parents were already here, so there were 14 people in our townhouse (during the day, that is -- my sister's family slept in a hotel at night).

One of the neatest things was seeing all the cousins running around playing together. My sister has 6 kids. Two were adopted from Liberia, Africa, so my parents have four Caucasian grandchildren, two biracial grandchildren and two African grandchildren. It's a wonderful testimony to the fact that you don't have to look like each other to be family.

Here are some pictures of our time together.

All the cousins minus Orly, who wasn't feeling well that day.

Snack time at a produce farm.

Holly and Saige.

Mike and Jeremiah, eating ice cream.

At an ice cream place.

Yes, we took up an entire bench at the ice cream place!

Orly and Jeremiah (they are very close in age and have grown up practically like twins).

Another shot of all the cousins. Not easy getting 8 wiggly kids on the sofa at one time!

Sweet Jeremiah.

Snacks on the deck.

Saige and Holly. I think we were eating ice cream. Come to think of it, we ate a lot of ice cream!

I think it's so funny that nearly every picture involves a snack. Perhaps that's what it takes to get so many kids in one place?

Family members aren't all alike on the inside, so why would be all be alike on the outside? Great post - and I love Fiona's assertion that it takes a snack to get a pic... so true!

Beautiful! What a joy it must have been for your parents to have all the kids and grandkids together!
